PRESS RELEASE: NCD JOINS OTHER STATE INSTITUTIONS TO EXPRESS DISSATISFACTION OVER THE NEGATIVE POTENTIAL OF THE FILM TITLED “TRIBAL WAR: MENDE VS TEMNE”

Through a letter from the Central Intelligence and Security Unit of the Office of National Security (ONS) on the subject: “Report on a Movie that is of threat to National Security”, the attention of the National Commission for Democracy (NCD) has been drawn to the far-reaching implications of the content of a film titled: “Tribal War: Mende vs. Temne” supposedly done by the Empire Movies Production, a movie production outfit located in the Southern City of Bo with marketing done by Ansev Enterprises at 4 Short Street in Freetown.
According to a short review of the movie that was supposedly launched on Tuesday, March 1, 2016, the two largest tribes in the Country, Mendes and Temnes, were presented in a very bad light involving maiming and killings on both sides on the backdrop of a land dispute with the Mendes presented as being very ritualistic and the Temnes as being very aggressive.

ANOTHER NCD MONITORING TOUR OF SELECTED SCHOOLS IN THE WESTERN REGION ON THE NATIONAL FLAG POLE CONSTRUCTION PROJECT


With the National Commission for Democracy (NCD) set to roll out the remaining activities featured in the 2015 Performance Contract signed with State House, another monitoring tour of selected schools in the Western Region on the National Flag Pole construction project has been undertaken on Thursday, February 25, 2016 with the Director of Programmes, Kalie Sillah, at the helm of affairs.

On the basis of ensuring quality control and meeting the prescribed standards of NCD, the headquarters and Western Region staff constituted a monitoring team to ascertain that the work being done by the approved contractor, Enitor Atiba-Davies of Leh’s All Purpose Enterprises, is in line with stated specifications.
