NCD CLIMAXES A SEVEN DAY CIVIC AND VOTER EDUCATION CAMPAIGN WITH ELECTION OBSERVATION IN CONSTITUENCY 025

Following a seven day intensive civic and voter education campaign to enhance the successful outcome of the bye-election in Constituency 025 in the Kono District in Eastern Sierra Leone, the National Commission for Democracy (NCD) has joined other good governance institutions in the Country to observe the closely contested bye-election to replace the Late Hon. Torto whose demise gave occasion for the conduct of the Saturday, December 19, 2015 bye-election in the Gorama-Kono and Nimiyama chiefdoms, ‘amalgamated’ to constitute Constituency 025.

With twenty two (22) polling centers, eleven (11) centers in each chiefdom, and thirty (30) polling stations to observe, NCD was well represented in both chiefdoms with the NCD Commissioner of the Eastern Region, Alhaji Sheku Kamara, heading the team that covered the Gorama-Kono Chiefdom as part of the Constituency and the NCD Communications and PR Manager, Rev. Gibrilla Kargbo, heading the team that covered Nimiyama Chiefdom as the other part of the Constituency.

NCD TAKES CIVIC AND VOTER EDUCATION CAMPAIGN TO THE NORTH

Following the death of Hon. Thomas Mark Turay with the resultant vacancy of his Parliamentary seat, the National Electoral Commission (NEC) has announced Saturday, December 12, 2015 as the date for bye-election to be held in Constituency 030 in the Bombali District in Northern Sierra Leone to choose a suitable replacement.

On the backdrop of voter apathy and void voting that characterized the last bye-elections of Saturday, November 14, 2015; the National Commission for Democracy (NCD) has embarked on a twelve (12) day civic and voter education campaign to enhance the successful outcome of the Constituency 030 bye-election. With the constituency spanning the whole of Paki Masabong Chiefdom and part of Bombali Sebora Chiefdom, the civic and voter education campaign is expected to end on Friday, December 11, 2015 with Monday, November 30, 2015 as the commencement date.
