ANOTHER NCD MONITORING TOUR OF SELECTED SCHOOLS IN THE WESTERN REGION ON THE NATIONAL FLAG POLE CONSTRUCTION PROJECT


With the National Commission for Democracy (NCD) set to roll out the remaining activities featured in the 2015 Performance Contract signed with State House, another monitoring tour of selected schools in the Western Region on the National Flag Pole construction project has been undertaken on Thursday, February 25, 2016 with the Director of Programmes, Kalie Sillah, at the helm of affairs.

On the basis of ensuring quality control and meeting the prescribed standards of NCD, the headquarters and Western Region staff constituted a monitoring team to ascertain that the work being done by the approved contractor, Enitor Atiba-Davies of Leh’s All Purpose Enterprises, is in line with stated specifications.

NCD AND NCSN ON JUSTICE AND SECURITY TO COLLABORATE ON “THE REGISTRATION OF CUSTOMARY MARRIAGES AND DIVORCES”

The National Commission for Democracy has on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 hosted the National Civil Society Network on Justice and Security discussing the possibility of collaborating on the “Registration of Customary Marriages and Divorces Act”, an Act of Parliament that is geared towards formalizing the fourth tier of marriage in Sierra Leone in addition to Christian, Muslim and Civil marriages.

NCD SIGNS MOU WITH ACC

The National Commission for Democracy (NCD) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) to forge a collaborative engagement and partnership to complement their efforts in promoting their respective interrelated mandates. The signing ceremony took place at the conference room of the ACC at its Headquarters at Gloucester Street in Freetown on November 18, 2014.

NCD TO COLLABORATE WITH THE OFFICE OF THE CHIEF OF STAFF ON INFORMATION DISSEMINATION

The Chairman and some staff of the National Commission for Democracy have paid a courtesy call on the new Chief of Staff at State House on Wednesday, October 29, 2014. In what can best be described as a positive outcome, the deliberations that ensued have succeeded in cementing the bond between NCD and the Office of the Chief of Staff at State House.

NCD LAUNCHES GOOD GOVERNANCE MAGAZINE

The National Commission for Democracy has officially launched the maiden edition of its Good Governance Magazine that will give the general public the opportunity to have an insight into the invaluable contribution the Commission has been making in addressing issues of good governance and democracy by remarkably inculcating civic education into the hearts and minds of the people.

The event was hosted at the Commission’s Headquarters at the West Wing of the ninth floor of Youyi Building in Freetown on September 23, 2014.
