NCD Hosts UN Special Representative

The Special Representative of the United Nations to Sierra Leone, Jens Anders Toyberg-Frandzen on Monday July 30 visited staff member of the National Commission for Democracy (NCD) at the Commission’s Youyi Building Office in Freetown.

The meeting was conducted by the SRSG to familiarize himself with the activities of NCD, which is an important institution in the Democratic dispensation of Sierra Leone.

In his welcome address, NCD Chairman, Dr. Abu Bakarr Kargbo highlighted some of the successes and challenges faced by the Commission.  He pointed out that since its inception in 1994, the Commission has been carrying out its mandate as enshrined in the decree of 1994 and superseding act of 1996 which among other things is to develop public awareness of the constitution and the rights and responsibilities of every citizen.
